Start your Ministry Journey
It was the vision of the then Superintendent of the Church of the Firstborn of Jamaica, Rev. Clinton Hoffenden, who, in about 2005, expressed a desire to provide an opportunity to better equip the Pastors of the Church of the Firstborn to meet the changing needs of their congregations. This would be done through the Church of the Firstborn of Jamaica Bible Institute. This idea was fully endorsed and supported by the then General Secretary of the Church, Rev. Reuben Gray, who, in his role of Superintendent, initiated the inception process.
At an Executive Committee Retreat in 2009, a Board of Management was established and, ultimately, the Bible Institute was launched on Saturday, March 13, 2010, albeit on a part-time basis. The first batch of students — Pastors/Ministers — completed their core courses in March, 2013. A second batch enrolled since, and enrolment is now on-going.
The Church of the Firstborn of Jamaica Bible Institute aims at better equipping leaders to meet the changing needs of their congregations — illuminating, empowering, fulfilling - thereby enhancing their effectiveness in ministry.
